Beans and peaches

Owen had his first helping of green beans, pureed of course....and he LOVED them! I was so surprised. He has been eating solid foods on a regular basis for about a month now. He started with just plain rice cereal, then we moved to green peas. He liked them a lot it seemed, but then started boycotting them. We then tried bananas....no go. Next.....squash.....he seemed to be a fan, but last night, the green beans were a home run! He couldn't get enough, it was so cute. He kept opening his mouth wider and wider, like he was a little bird. Now, of course, I thought that he loved peas this much too before he starting refusing to eat them. So we will see what the next couple of days bring.

We got a 1/2 bushel of peaches (yes, that is a lot) from Saunder's Brothers on Saturday. They are so sweet and delicious, you just can't get enough. Ask Corey, he eats at least a half dozen every day! Well, Corey peeled the skin off of a peach and let Owen suck on it. He seemed a little put off for a second or two, but then he realized just how yummy they were. He kept pulling Corey's hand toward him to eat more of the peach. It was so amazing to see him consciously grabbing for something that he knew he wanted. His movements have become so coordinated and deliberate. It is so fun to see his progression every day. What a miracle children are.

We will be trying the next food soon, we'll keep you posted on how he receives it.

Reflecting on Owen

Just days before Owen's six month birthday, I have been taking some time to reflect upon how lucky we are to have such a wonderful child in our life. As I sit here typing, he is sitting on the floor, playing with his toys and periodically looking up at me with the most heartwarming grin anyone could imagine. He has grown and changed so much in these short 6 months. I just can't believe how fast time has flown by. Everyone says it, you just don't realize it until it has already happened. I am so sad that I haven't been keeping a log of each of his days and all of his accomplishments and antics thus far. We've just been too busy enjoying him and haven't taken the time to record his life in writing. We certainly have been logging it in photographs though....no one can claim we haven't.

From this point on though, as he continues to "expand his horizons," I will try to take some time to note all the little things that all of our loved ones are not always around to see on a day to day basis. Also, these day to day things tend to be the things we so easily forget as the days keep rushing by.

Keep checking in to get your Owen fix!
